The Jalingo League of Friends, led by Dr. Clement Giwa has launched tree planting campaign at the Taraba State College of Nursing and Midwifery.
The friends also extended the symbolic tree planting to the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Dr. Clement Giwa expressed gratitude to Governor Agbu Kefas for creating a conducive working environment for development to thrive in all sectors affirming that the exercise will impact on climate change.
Acknowledging the team’s efforts and advocacy on the environment after the reception by the provost of the college of Nursing and Midwifery who was represented. Engr.
Tony Yakia applauded the bold initiatives of the team.
On her part, Commissioner of Climate Change Aisha Barde, appreciated the League’s actions and stressed the need for Tarabans to emulate their gesture of planting trees.
She added that the tree planting would add to the beauty of the state and as well sustain the environment.
Hon. Tarfaki Agbadu Eneme, a member representing Kurmi Constituency and Chairman of the House Committee on Environment, appreciated the team for their initiative and called on the good people of the state to emulate their efforts in greening Taraba State.
Also speaking,Tanko Abubakar, Member representing Takum 2, urged Tarabans to join the fight against climate change and take responsibility for planting trees.
He further highlighted the damage caused by climate change to farmlands and advised that tree planting should be encouraged.
Permanent Secretary Ministry of Environment, Aminu Ayuba Kotolo, emphasized the importance of nurturing planted trees and called on everyone to join the tree planting activity.
There was symbolic planting of trees for leaders of the state at the Taraba State House of Assembly Jalingo.
