The Taraba state government has pledged its readiness to always support and assist the NYSC scheme to achieve its targeted objectives in the state.
The pledge was made on Friday, during the official opening of the 2025 Batch B Stream 1 Orientation Course for the corps members deployed to Taraba.
Speaking on the occasion, the State governor, Dr Agbu Kefas, commended the scheme for “its relentless task of promoting and sustaining national unity and integration”.
Represented by the Secretary to the Government of the State, Chief Gebon T. Kataps, the governor tasked the corp members to cultivate positive behaviour, be committed, work hard and avoid the negative use of the social media.
”The task of nation building is indeed a task that must be vigorously pursued, met and sustained by every one in the country including you the corps member.
”As you prepare to join other serving corps members in the state. I expect that you will work very hard, task yourself and replicate these attributes, while relating with the good people of Taraba State.
”Similarly, I urge you to sustain the high level of discipline and responsibility you have demonstrated and exhibited so far, since you arrived the orientation camp here at Sibre.
”You must continue to distance yourself from the wrongful use of the Social Media as well as other social vices. I encourage you all to begin now to assume your position as an ambassador of hope, change, leadership and development. You must begin now to show a great measure of commitment, dedication and determination in all you do here at the camp and when you commence the primary assignment programme in the state, ” Kataps stated.
He also encouraged those willing to stay and make a living in the state “to feel free to do so and exercise your freedom of association as the state is ever ready and inclined to welcome visitors, tourists and developmental agents”.
According to him, businesses, tourism and food production are booming in the state and that the “economy is being turned around to improve the living conditions of our people”.
Kefas also tasked the scheme to leverage on science and technology in order to improve their programs.
”There is no gainsaying the fact that Craft, Technology and Science has played a great role in development of human life in all sectors and ramifications globally.
”Therefore, I wish to entreat the operators of the scheme to fully key in and partner with Tech-resource centers and resource persons in a bid to enhance their operational modules and programs, ” he added. .
